No dOn August 20, 2016, Dr. Roberto Chacur was in Porto Alegre among the speakers of the 1st Symposium Brazilian Consensus on Infiltration Implants. The event will discuss the best ways to use polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) in aesthetic and repair procedures.
The meeting began with the debate to develop a national consensus that would make it possible to standardize the medical application of PMMA. For this it was used as base the study coordinated by Dr. Túlio Souza, which brought together the clinical experience of 36 doctors of different specialties.
Through more than ten years of experience in PMMA application, professionals have attended almost 90,000 cases of infiltrative implants, from which it is possible to extract sufficient knowledge to guide the technique.
Among those present was German plastic surgeon Gottfried Lemperle, the father of the use of PMMA for tissue augmentation. The product is released by the FDA, the US health agency and also by the Brazilian Health Surveillance (ANVISA), but still lacks parameters that establish the purpose and frequency of implants, the criteria for choosing materials and equipment, the volumes applied. , anesthetic options, replacements and complications.
